Free traffic sources

You have a website business, but like many people you need visitors and traffic to make a success of it. Here’s a few sources with a bit of an explanation of how to start using them.

TWITTER this is an excellent Web 2.0 tool for marketing.  It is an excellent way to get free traffic to your website.  Join up and be prepared to link in or ‘follow’ other people and get people following you. Search out friends who may be with Yahoo or similar, fill out your profile, upload up a picture of yourself, join in and start posting interesting snippets as to what you’re up to.  Offer something free or post a website which gives something cool for free.

Another good source of free traffic is EZINE articles; these articles are actually picked up by the search engines.  Also people use these articles on their websites, legitimately, and you can place a website link in your article, or at least your ‘Bio’. This is a friendly small snippet at the base of the article where you can provide a link and a little bit about yourself.

Forums – Try DOMOZ forum, you can find your interest group there and start to hang around the forums, seeing what conversations you can join into.  Find your market or niche, and join into a conversation; help people out, get to know people, find friends or at least others with similar interests.

Start making submissions to Ezine articles, the forums or Twitter – preferable all 3 about once a day.  Even if its once a day you’ll be surprised at how much traffic comes along.

You’ll soon start to see loads of targetted traffic heading your way.  Just remember not to spam or become too opinionated/argumentative, as you’ll put people off. Make sure you can introduce your link too, as some forums don’t allow you. Ezine articles only allows it in the bio as far as I know.

Good luck!
